PHOENIX – UT Arlington's men's golf opened the GCU Invitational, hosted by Grand Canyon from the GCU Golf Course in Phoenix on Tuesday, playing the first two rounds of the event. Junior
Cameron Beck and sophomore
Michael Chevalier tied for the best individual scores on the day, each shooting five-over.
Beck opened round one with a +1 72, and through his two rounds birdied on six occasions, four of which happened in the opening round. The Mansfield, Texas, native birdied Nos. 7, 10 (twice), 15, 16 and 18. He also shot par 21 times over the course of the two rounds.
Chevalier birdied four times in total, on Nos. 2, 4, 10 and 18, respectively. The Grapevine, Texas, native parred 24 holes throughout the two rounds.
UTA concluded day one in a tie for 16
th place at +32. The third and final round at the par 71 course opens with a 10 a.m. CT shotgun start.
