PHOENIX – UT Arlington's men's golf concluded the GCU Invitational, hosted by Grand Canyon from the GCU Golf Course in Phoenix on Wednesday, playing the final round of the event. Senior
Shoichiro Kato led the way for the Mavs on day two, carding a two-under 69.
Kato birdied on four occasions, on Nos. 9, 10, 15 and 16, while also shooting par on 13 holes to pick up the team's first round under par this spring.
In addition to Kato's strong round, junior
Cameron Beck fired a third round 72, one over par. He finished with the best overall score for the Mavs, at +6 for the event, in a tie for 42
nd individually.
UTA concluded the event in 17
th place at +39 after their best round of the tournament, at 291. The Mavs are back in action in Maricopa, Arizona, on March 31-April 1 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
