WACO, Texas --UT Arlington struggled to plate runs, leaving 11 Mavericks on base in a 13-4 loss at the hands of the Baylor Bears on Tuesday.
Senior Rhys Stevens (1-1) started and took the loss on the mound for UT Arlington (7-14). Senior Cade McGlade was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 6-0, the Mavericks first put runs on the board in the third inning. UT Arlington scored twice in the inning, including one on a solo shot from junior Larry Haskins.
The Mavericks kept the Bears off the board before narrowing the gap further in the fourth. UT Arlington scored a run when senior Tyce Armstrong drew a walk from freshman Camden Clewett that scored freshman Austin Phillips, which tightened the Bears lead to 6-3.
Baylor built their lead to 9-3 before the UT Arlington offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 9-4 in the fifth. The Mavericks notched a run on senior Geoff Marlow's one-out RBI double. The Mavericks were unable to get any closer, as Baylor added four runs to their tally on the way to a 13-4 final.
