ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington's Division of Intercollegiate Athletics has named
Quintin Payton as UTA's new Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs and Chief Revenue Officer.
Payton will oversee the day-to-day operations for the following external departments; ticketing, marketing, fan experience, communications, broadcast operations and branding/creative content.
"I'm thrilled to join UTA and want to thank
Jon Fagg for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I'm excited to contribute to a department that dares to be great, and I fully support the mission to prepare student-athletes for success in every aspect of their lives. UTA's bold vision, strategic direction, and commitment to innovation — like launching one of the nation's first D1 women's flag football programs — make this a truly special time to be a Maverick. I can't wait to help elevate the external efforts that will enhance the student-athlete experience and energize our community."
Payton joins UTA after spending the past three years (2022-25) at Abilene Christian University, the past two as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Brand Development and Fan Experience.
While in Abilene, Payton was a member of the senior leadership team with oversight of branding, creative services, game operations, licensing, marketing and media relations. He directed a cross-functional team of 11 full-time staff members in addition to interns. He oversaw a 160% increase in football student attendance and grew men's basketball student attendance by 84.3% and total attendance by 51.5% during the 2022-23 season.
Prior to his time at ACU, Payton served as Assistant Director of Marketing for three years (2019-22) at TCU. In addition to his time at ACU and TCU, he brings more than a decade of athletics marketing experience with previous stops at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Jacksonville University and the University of West Florida.
During his time in Fort Worth, Payton was primarily responsible for marketing and event presentation for the Horned Frogs baseball, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball and track and field programs. He played a major role in home football games where he served as the on-field coordinator and led the coordination of Frog Alley, the unique tailgating experience for football fans and students. He also assisted with the creation of the "Frogball USA" branding for TCU baseball. Payton played a pivotal role in helping break attendance records for multiple sports and helped the baseball program consistently rank in the top 10 nationally in attendance.
Payton had two stops at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he led all marketing efforts for the 16 Division I sports focusing on enhancing the game day experience. He oversaw the direction of the pep band, spirit squads, student section, kids club, and the marketing internship program.
In between his Corpus Christi bookends, Payton spent one year at Jacksonville University (DI-FCS) as Director of Marketing and three years at Division II University of West Florida as the Marketing and Sales Coordinator and the Marketing and Sales Graduate Assistant - where he managed marketing and corporate sponsorships as the university added football.
