Puryear Records Huge School Record First Day of Jarvis Scott

LUBBOCK, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team opened competition at the Jarvis Scott Invitational with success, highlighted by a school record, recorded by senior Jaalah Puryear.

Puryear recorded a huge school record in the women's weight throw with a mark of 19.29m, surpassing the last UTA women's weight throw record-holding mark of 18.42, made by Sara Lehman in 2017. The senior Maverick's mark now ranks first in the Western Athletic Conference.

Freshman Arieanna Mcpeak made huge strides today, earning a silver medal in the women's long jump. Her mark of 6.06m lands third in WAC.

Junior Emilia Mandl continues a successful indoor campaign, earning third place in the women's 800m, clocking a time of (2:10.42). This marks her third top-three finish of the indoor season.
