ARLINGTON, TX – The UTA Mavericks ended day one of the Boerner Invitational with an 11-4 loss to Creighton on Friday evening at Allan Saxe Field.
Creighton opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning, but UTA answered immediately.
Valeria Feeney delivered a two-RBI single to left field to tie the game 2-2 after one frame.
The Bluejays added three home runs in the second to move ahead, 5-2.
Peyton Holland lifted a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning to bring the Mavericks within two at 5-3.
After a scoreless stretch through the middle innings for UTA, Creighton added five runs in the sixth to extend its lead. UTA plated its final run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Feeney to account for the 11-4 final.

The Mavericks will continue play at the Boerner Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 21, playing South Dakota at 3 p.m. CT and 5:30 p.m.
