FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU defeated UT Arlington 12-1 in a game shortened to seven innings by the run rule on Wednesday night at Lupton Stadium.
The Mavericks scored their only run in the second inning when
Clark Springs drove in
Caylon Dygert with a groundout to give UTA an early 1-0 lead.
TCU answered with two runs in the second and never looked back, adding a run in the third before exploding for seven runs in the fourth inning to take control. The Horned Frogs added two more runs in the sixth to invoke the run rule.
TCU finished with 14 hits, including home runs from Sawyer Strosnider (two), Rob Liddington and Brady Dallimore.
Noah Fields recorded UTA's only extra-base hit with a double.
Merek Sears was charged with the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over 3.0 innings.
