Mavs recognize three former stars, a pair of championship teams with the department's highest honor

Three-time All-Conference selection at offensive tackle, earning first-team honors in 1969 and second-team in 1968 and 1970 à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ Was a two-time honorable mention All-America selection à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ A fourth-round selection in the 1971 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ Played seven seasons (1971-77) with the Saints, before spending 1978 with Baltimore and 1979 with Detroit à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ Also competed for three years in track and field events including javelin, shot-put and discuss à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ Was one of just three freshmen to make the 1967 traveling squad when the Mavs went 10-1 and won the Pecan Bowl à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ Was a 13-time high school letterwinner in four sports in Forney.
