HOW TO EARN MAV POINTS
INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT
Personal Development - 50 points
(Can include attending or presenting lectures/presentations on a variety of topics related to personal development including, but not limited to: nutrition, self-esteem, stress management, alcohol choices, media relations and fiscal responsibility. Check The Shorthorn newspaper for upcoming events.)
- 25 points deducted if you sign up for a workshop, but do not attend or notify SAAC rep or TK
Career Development - 50 points
(Check with the UT Arlington Career Services website -
http://careers.uta.edu/ - for any upcoming events, including workshops on resume building, career conferences or attending career fairs.)
Campus Organizations - 50 points per meeting
(Participation in SAAC meeting, campus organizations, professional or academic service groups serving as an
officer in any group or organization earns an additional 50 points for the year)
Community Service Commitment - 100 points
(This includes mentoring or peer education in anything that reaches out to others in the University, local or global community. Visit the Campus Activities and Community Programs office at E.H. Hereford University Center, Lower Level or call ext. 22963 to explore other available service opportunities.)
- Donations
- 50 pts for full trash bag of items
- 25 pts for half a bag of items
- 10 pts for <15 items="">15>
- 50 pts for reaching the goal, 1 pt for every number after that
Athletes Supporting Athletes – 25 points
(Show support and pride in all of the athletics' teams at UT Arlington by attending a competition as a team, or come up with a different way to show your support of another Maverick team.)
- Take a selfie with team members at the game and send them to your SAAC rep in order to get points for attending
The “Extra Mile” – 50 points
(Doing something that is above and beyond other categories of “Mav Point Challenge”. It may consist of any activity you have done that does not fall into another category. Example: Presenting at an Athlete 2 Athlete.)
Academic Excellence
(Individuals receive points based on their Academic performance; points awarded for Academic All-Conference and All-American)
50 points Scholar Athlete, 75 points Super-Scholar Athlete, 150 points All American
Athletic Excellence
(Individuals receive points for exceptional participation in competition; points awarded for Academic All-Conference and All-American.)
50 points All-Sunbelt Conference, 150 points All-American, 500 points National Champion
TEAM DEVELOPMENT
50% of team MUST be involved for activity to count as a TEAM project.
25% of team involvement will receive half the points
Team Development - 100 points

- If a coach attends the event, 10 points per assistant coach, 25 points for head coach

Teams receive points based on each season’s team Academic performance; points awarded for Academic All-Conference and All-American
- 250 points to team with highest GPA, 250 points for All-Conference Academic Team, 500 All-American Academic Team
Team GPA – points awarded each semester
- 3.50 – 4.00 earns 300 points
- 3.25 – 3.49 earns 200 points
- 3.00 – 3.24 earns 100 points
- 2.75 – 2.99 earns 50 points
- Below a 2.75 earns 0 points
Athletic Excellence
Teams receive points for exceptional participation and finish as conference champs, or national champs.
- 500 points for Conference Champs, 1000 points National Champs, 250 points for Post Tournament Champs
Extra Mile – 50 – 250 points
Doing something that is above and beyond other categories of “Mav Point Challenge”. It may consist of any activity you have done that does not fall into another category. Points are awarded within a range from 50 – 250pts based on activity. Examples: donating more than expected goal (50pts), hosting a community service event (100pts), teaming up with an outside organization to hosting a kid with a long term disease (250pts)
