Will be counted upon in the back court. A true point guard who will compete with senior Rod Epps and sophomore Rog[apos]er Guignard for time at the point-guard position.

A first-team all-District 8-5A after in 2007, he led the DeSoto High School Eagles to a 34-5 record while averaging 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game... he was named to the 2006 Dallas ISD Coca Cola all-tournament team and was ranked 60th in the state by Mike Kunstadt[apos]s TexasHoops.com site... Smith chose UTA over Florida Atlantic, Texas State, Air Force, Stephen F. Austin, Wichita State, Northern Arizona, Liberty Army and Furman.
