Jordynn Hernandez concluded her second and final season on staff in 2022-23. She departed to become an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for Stephen F. Austin's women's basketball program.
Hernandez, who was elevated to director of player development in the summer of 2022, previously served as a graduate assistant during the 2021-22 season, where she was a vital point to the team's success as UTA captured the Sun Belt tournament championship, finished with a 20-8 record and nearly upset No. 3 seed Iowa State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Hernandez, a native of McKinney, is no stranger to the UT Arlington women's basketball program having spent her final two collegiate seasons as a student-athlete for the Lady Mavs. A transfer from Collin College, Hernandez sat out the entire 2019-20 season due to injury. She played in 13 games (12 starts) the following season before a knee injury ended her playing career.

Hernandez was selected to participate in the 2021 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) "So You Want To Be A Coach" program. During the WBCA’s one-day online workshop, she was able to learn about the administrative side of coaching, recruiting, how to get hired, skill development, the importance of knowing the rules, and how to balance work and life.
