Alex Cosse begins his first season as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at UT Arlington in 2026-27, where he works directly with the men's basketball program on all aspects of strength and conditioning, performance development and athlete wellness.
Cosse arrives at UTA after serving as Director of Sport Performance for the University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball program beginning in December 2024. In that role, he oversaw strength and conditioning programs, recovery protocols and athlete performance monitoring while coordinating game-day fueling stations, recovery meals and return-to-play plans in collaboration with the sports medicine staff. He also managed the day-to-day operations of the sports performance facility.
Prior to his time at UIW, Cosse spent the fall of 2024 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at James Madison University. There, he assisted with the men's basketball program and worked with rehabilitation and modified athletes. He also served as the lead strength coach for the men's and women's golf teams, designing and implementing training programs for both programs.
Cosse gained additional collegiate experience at the University of North Carolina, where he served as a basketball intern from November 2023 through July 2024 after previously working as an Olympic sports intern. During his time in Chapel Hill, he assisted with training sessions and program implementation for several Tar Heel teams, including women's volleyball, fencing, track and field, men's lacrosse, wrestling and rowing.
Before joining North Carolina, Cosse was a football strength and conditioning intern at Tulane University, assisting with training sessions while gaining experience with performance technologies such as GPS tracking systems, timing gates and force plates.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Cosse earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in fitness and health performance from Southeastern Louisiana University in December 2022. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and also holds ELDOA Level 1 and CPR/AED certifications.
Outside of work, he enjoys working out, running, playing basketball, reading, listening to podcasts and traveling. He also enjoys exploring new places whenever he gets the opportunity. His family includes his mother, Meloney Cosse’, his brother, Ozzie Ross Jr., and his sister, Kaja Picou.
