UT Arlington Staff Bio
Dr. Adam Annaccone is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he teaches in the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. He also serves as UTA’s Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), supporting student-athlete academic success and promoting alignment between Athletics and the university’s academic mission.
Dr. Annaccone’s expertise centers on systems-based athletic training practice, with a focus on how models of care are designed, implemented, and evaluated to support continuity, safety, quality, compliance, cost, value and performance. His work examines how athletic trainers function within larger healthcare and sport systems, and how those systems can be optimized through better structure, communication, role definition, and decision-making. Through his teaching and leadership, he prepares future clinicians to think beyond isolated encounters and contribute to coordinated, high-functioning models of care.
His scholarly and professional interests include performance health, continuity of care, movement quality, and the practical integration of sports science principles into athletic training education and clinical practice. He is particularly interested in how athletic trainers can create more effective and efficient models of care that better align clinical services, performance support, and organizational needs.
With experience spanning educational, clinical, and high-performance settings, Dr. Annaccone’s background includes professional sport work in sports medicine and performance systems, including three seasons with the NBA’s Phoenix Suns as a Performance & Recovery Specialist/Assistant Athletic Trainer. He has also contributed to program development initiatives and athlete services involving movement assessment, corrective exercise, performance programming, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
He earned his EdD in Administration and Leadership Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an MEd from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Athletic Training from Duquesne University.
