UT Arlington Athletics Hall of Honor
Dunsworth graduated from UT Arlington in 1922 when it was still under the name of Grubbs Vocational College. He excelled at football as both a quarterback and tackle, but it was his baseball career that earned him the nickname "Hoss", as he was said to saound like a horse running to first base.
Following his graduation at North Texas State Univeristy with his bachelor's degree in education, he was immediately hired by Grubbs Vocational College to teach chemistry and physics – the first alumnus to be hired as a faculty member. In 1926, he moved to the math department where he remained for the next 47 years. When he retired in 1972, Dunsworth had seen Grubbs Vocational College evolve to North Texas Agricultural College, Arlington State College, and the University of Texas at Arlington. He had coached football, track and baseball, and had served as athletic director and head of both the physical education and math departments.
