Men's Cross Country

HARRIERS READY FOR SLC CHAMPIONSHIPS

The UTA men's and women's cross country will wrap-up the 2003 regular season Nov. 3 at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships in Huntsville. In the final tuneup for conference, UTA competed at the Arkansas Chili Pepper Invitational last Saturday.

Senior runner Lisa Haglund (Bastad, Sweden) continued to lead the women's team as she ran a 22:01.66 over the six kilometer course to finish 36th and help the team to a tie for 14th place. Lisa was followed very closely by her twin sister, Kajsa Haglund, who finished in 41st place after completing the course in 22:07.29. Other Maverick runners and their results include: Miranda Zuniga (23:25.20/114th), Ivorita Taylor (24:15.57/158th), Nicole Noel (24:37.51/181st) and Kristi Bird (24:41.85/183rd).

In the men's division, Eric Petersson paced the team to a 23rd place finish by running a 30:51.98 over the 10 kilometer course to finish in 31st place. Other Maverick runners and their results include: Jacob Cedertun (32:06.83/83rd), Daniel Noah (32:17.14/95th), Stefan Johansson (34:28.20/165th), Davis Tagi (34:31.29/166th), Demery Cox (35:34.19/187th) and Josh Smith (35:55.72/189th).

UTA competes at the Southland Conference Championships Nov. 3 in Huntsville, Texas.
