ARLINGTON, Texas - Texas-Arlington senior forward Donny Beacham scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed a personal-best 19 rebounds in the Mavericks' 73-54 win over Texas-Pan American in a non-conference game at Texas Hall Wednesday night.
UTA (7-8) won for the third time in four games while Texas-Pan American falls to 5-13.
Texas-Arlington senior forward Derrick Obasohan moved into 10th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 10 points. He now has 1,060 career points. Stephen Keith Howell scored 12 and Stephen Floyd chipped in 10 for the Mavericks. UTPA was led by Allen Holcomb with 12 points and 10 from Ryan Lange. The Broncs made just 3-of-30 3-point attempts in the game while UTA made 4-of-11.
UTA used a season-high in rebounds to outrebound UTPA 58-37.
UTA opened the second half on 12-6 run to take a 41-30 lead after a Beacham layup with 15:15 to play. UTA's lead swelled to 20 late in the game, 70-50, after two Jarrett Howell free throws.
UTA built a nine-point in the first half, 25-16, after an Obasohan jumper with 4:27 to play.
