UT ARLINGTON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS
The primary purpose of the UTA Athletic Communications office is to serve as a contact between UTA athletics administration, coaches and student-athletes and the local, state and national media.

UTA student-athletes and coaches work closely with the athletic communications staff to fulfill various types of media requests. In addition to coordinating press conferences and interviews, the office compiles and presents accurate information to the media on the UTA athletics program utilizing its website, social media, press releases, game notes, information guides, e-mails, and phone calls.

MEDIA INTERVIEW REQUESTS AND POLICIES
Representatives of accredited press outlets who request interviews with UT Arlington student-athletes, coaches, or staff are asked to contact the UTA Athletic Communications office well in advance of the time and date requested.

The best time to conduct interviews with student-athletes prior to or after practice; the best time varies by team. Please check with the appropriate Athletic Communications staff member about a specific sport.

Practice access is at the discretion of each coach. Media attending a practice session are asked to keep an appropriate distance from the activity and not to talk to student-athletes or coaches while practice is taking place. Team meetings before, during, or after practice are private and not accessible to the media.

Interviews will be arranged around the student-athletes' and/or coaches' schedule. As a department practice, phone numbers of student-athletes are not made available to the public. Members of the media are asked not to contact student-athletes or coaches without prior consent of the Athletic Communications staff.

It is requested that media give the Athletic Communications office enough warning when they would like to arrange an interview or attend a practice. The Athletic Communications office requests at least 48-hour advance notice to schedule interviews. Last-minute interview requests cannot be guaranteed; however, every effort will be made to grant requests.

Post-game interviews following home contests are also handled through the Athletic Communications office. After a brief cooling-off period, coaches and selected student-athletes will be brought to a designated interview area. Team locker rooms are not open to the media. Reach out to the communications person for each sport's postgame press conference policies and information at least 24 hours before the event.

The Athletic Communications office will do everything it can to respect media requests, and the media are expected to respect the policies set forth by the Athletic Communications office.

Members of the media are encouraged to be familiar with and abide by the Code of Ethics adopted by the United States Basketball Writers of America.
