ARLINGTON, Texas - After wet courts delayed the start of Sunday's match and heavy rains starting in the middle forced it to be moved to an indoor facility, Texas-Arlington finally came out with a 4-3 win over visiting McNeese State. With the win, UTA improves to 12-4 overall and 7-0 in the Southland Conference.
The Lady Mavericks trailed early after dropping the doubles point. Marketa Cizova and Daniela Novakova dropped a 9-7 decision to Marina Gando and Noelia Furno at the No. 1 position while Monika Peciulionyte and Simri van Rooyen dropped a 9-8 decision to Magali Risoleo and Urska Dobersek at No. 2 doubles. Jitka Vetrovcova and Anete Rozkalne paired up for UTA's only doubles win, an 8-3 win over Yolandie Beukes and Madeleine Hakansson at the No. 3 position.
Cizova tied the match at one point apiece with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Beukes at No. 2 singles. At the No. 3 position, Novakova earned a 6-4, 6-4 straight set victory over Risoleo. Simri van Rooyen battled back from one set down to defeat Dobersek 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while Vetrovcova defeated Gando 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 in the sixth flight.
