LADY MAV BASKETBALL SIGNS FIRST OF SPRING

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington head basketball coach Donna Capps has announced the signing of Alesheia White to a national letter of intent to attend the university and begin playing basketball for the Lady Mavs in the Fall of 2004.

White, a 6-1 post from Austin, comes to UTA after averaging 12.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game at Pflugerville Connally High School. Her play on the hardwood her senior year earned her District 17-4A MVP and second team all-region laurels. She was also selected to the all-Centex second team, as well as TGCA all-state and all-star teams. The two time team captain was voted the team MVP in each of her final three seasons. Following her junior campaign, White was named the District 17-4A Defensive MVP. Her accomplishments are not limited to the court as White was a four time academic all-district selection.

The Lady Mavs finished the 2003-04 season with an overall record of 19-12, 11-5 in the Southland Conference, and advanced to the championship game of the SLC Tournament.
