EL PASO, Texas - Texas-Arlington guard Terra Wallace scored 17 of her game-high 24 points from the charity stripe as the Mavericks won their second straight road contest, 58-53, over UTEP Sunday afternoon at the Don Haskins Center.
"I just thought the strength of our guards and the unwillingness to give up by Terra, Tojjinay and Maryann and playing that many minutes was awesome," said head coach Donna Capps. "I really think Kristi Dudley made some key rebounds and we just had a good defensive performance."
UTEP (3-3) got a pair of three-pointers from Kasia Krezel in the first 2:55 of the contest to help the Miners stake to a 7-1 lead early. A pair of Wallace free throws and an Erin Dixon three-point play helped pull the Mavs to within one.
