HOUSTON, Texas - The UTA men's golf team fired an even-par round of 288, but it was not enough to reel in North Texas as the Mavericks placed fourth at the Rice Intercollegiate Tournament at the Wildcat Golf Club here Tuesday.
UTA finished the rain-shortened, 36-hole tournament with a 13-over-par score of 589, five shots behind the winner North Texas (584). Memphis was second at 585 and Sam Houston State placed third at 587.
Senior Jordan Krantz (Vermillion Bay, Canada) tied for second place with a one-under-par 143. He carded a Tuesday round of even-par 72, two strokes behind Anthony Broussard of North Texas.
Other UTA golfers include: Zack Reeves (Mansfield, Texas) and Jeff Murray (Odessa, Texas) tying for 19th place with 148s. Reeves was one of 17 golfers to post scores below par with a 70 pon Tuesday. Murray rebounded from an opening round 77 with a 71.
Marc Campbell (Southlake, Texas) tied for 33rd with a 151 and Tyrone Mordt (Johannesburg, South Africa) pair his opening round 77 with a 75 Tuesday for a 152.
Invidiually, Bryan Baker carded a 77 on Tuesday and finished tied for 33rd at 151.
UTA returns to action Feb. 15 at the Central Florida/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate Tournament.
