ARLINGTON, Texas - Freshman Pavla Mesterova continued to lead her squad as she pushed her singles record at the top flight to 9-0 as the Lady Mavericks dropped Marquette 6-1 Thursday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.

UTA (8-4) claimed the first point of the afternoon with wins at the No. 1 and 2 doubles flights. Mesterova paired with fellow Czech native Daniela Novakova for an 8-3 decision at the top doubles spot while Monika Peciulionyte and Anete Rozkalne clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 position.

Mesterova, ranked 90th nationally, made quick work of Callan Smith at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-0, 6-1 victory to give the Lady Mavs a 2-0 advantage.

Bebe Calbeto earned the lone victory for Marquette, a 6-4, 6-1 win over Novakova at the No. 2 position.

Peciulionyte continued her stellar play as she dropped Else Dokter 6-2, 6-3, to improve her No. 3 singles record to 3-0. Rozkalne downed Dominika Dabrowski in straight sets at the No. 4 position.

Gretel Hach and Jessica Shepard each turned in 6-1, 6-2 victories at the No. 5 and 6 flights, respectively.

Texas-Arlington will return to action Saturday when it plays host to Louisiana-Lafayette at 10 a.m.
