BATON ROUGE, La. - UTA looks for its third win of the 2004-05 season when they compete at the LSU Spring Invitational beginning here today.

The Mavericks enter the tournament after a third-place finish at the 54th Annual Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas. The finish was the eighth top-four finish in nine tournaments for the Mavericks who are rankd 51st by golfstat.com this week.

Nine of the nation's top 100 teams, according to golfweek.com, will participate in this event. Host LSU is ranked 44th in the nation followed by UTA (54), Memphis (57), Lamar (59), Mississippi State (78), Tulane (80), Southern Mississippi (87), Furman (96) and South Florida (99). After this week's tournament, UTA will compete at the 2005 Southland Conference Championships April 25-27 at Kingwood, Texas.

This marks the fifth year of the spring invitational. Host LSU has won all four previous tournaments.
