FORT WORTH, Texas - - UTA junior distance runner Ivorita Taylor (St. Elizabeth Jamaica) ran a season-best 2:12.69 to claim third place at the TCU Invitational here April 23.
The time is the fastest in the SLC this season and highlighted the day for the Mavericks.
Other top performances include:
Linda Rosema with a discus toss of 39.70 meter (130-03) to capture third place.
Sophomore Randee Wales and freshman Angela Gonzales took fifth and sixth place, respectively in the long jump. Wales turned in a career-best jump of 18-feet, 7.25-inches and Gonzales soared 18-06.
Multi-event specialist Mandy McGee hurled the javelin 28-08 meter for fifth place. She also finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:03.12.
Pole vaulters Vanessa Maida and Lacey Moore cleared 11-01.75 for seventh and eight place, respectively. For Maida, the height is a personal best after coming off an off-season injury.
Senior Brittany Williams finished seventh in the 100 meters with an 11.89 and she was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed sixth with a 3:58.23.
The track and field teams competes at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa this weekend. The SLC Championships are May 13-15 in Huntsville, Texas.
