MORRISON CLAIMS SEVENTH AT REGIONALS

NORMAN, Okla. - After qualifying ninth in the 400-meter hurdle prelims, sophomore Coby Morrison clocked a time of 52.53 seconds to claim seventh place at the NCAA Division I 2005 Outdoor Track and Field Midwest Regionals here May 28.

THe two-time all-Southland Conference hurdler will wait and see if the time is enough to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 8-11 in Sacramento, Calif.

Morrison's points along with a sixth-place finish by Quinchun Carey in the long jump gave the Mavericks a 29th-place finish in the regional meet.

Also, junior Kelley Jackson finished the season with a hammer throw of 52.67 meters (172-10) .

The throw was the second best of the season for Jackson, the SLC champion in the hammer, who missed a month of the outdoor season with a foot injury.
