LUBBOCK, Texas - UTA sophomore runner Carranda Mose locked a personal-best time of two-minutes 21.63-seconds to win her first college events - the women's 800 meters - to highlight the day at the Wes Kittley 6-Way Invitational here Saturday.
The Pearland, Texas native used a strong kick down the homestretch to hold off teammate Nicole Noel to post a victory.
The meet featured competitors from host Texas Tech, Texas State, North Texas, Wayland Baptist, SMU, Abilene Christian, Texas-Pan American, New Mexico, TCU and Texas-San Antonio.
Distance runner Jodi Hulett (Arlington, Texas) recorded top five finishes in the mile run and the 3,000 meters. Hulett placed fifth in her first mile run of the season with a time of 5:12.42. She also took fourth with a 10:26.12 in the 3,000 meters.
Junior thrower Linda Rosema (Azle, Texas) set a personal-best mark of 15.93 (52-03.25) meters to finish second in the weight throw.
In pole vault, junior Vanessa Maida (Abilene, Texas) and freshman Erin Cluiss (Forney, Texas) tied for third with a height of 3.50 meters (11-05.75).
Freshman Stacey Bennett (Kingsville, Texas) cleared 5-6 to take third place in the high jump.
Both the women's and men's indoor track and field team will compete at the Houston Invitational Feb. 4. The Southland Conference Indoor Track Championships is Feb. 17-18 at the Bill Yeoman Field House on the University of Houston campus.
