UTA DOWNS CAL STATE FULLERTON 61-42

BOZEMAN, Mont. - UT Arlington won the consolation game at the Wingate Inn Thanksgiving Classic, 61-42, over Cal State Fullerton. For the second game in a row seniors Terra Wallace and Ashley Bobb led the Mavericks scoring 18 and 11 points respectively. Wallace recorded her first double double of the season with ten boards.

To start the game Maryann Abanobi and Tiffeny Riles took the Mavericks on a 7-0 run before the Titans scored their first points 4:39 into the action. Cal State Fullerton battled back to within four (16-12) with 6:26 left in the half before Meghan Nelson put the Mavs up by 11 (31-20) with 41 seconds left in the half. Fullerton's Jasmine Scott hit a tre at the buzzer to send UTA into the locker room with the eight point advantage, 31-23.

Back-to-back threes by Wallace and Abanobi gave UTA the 14 point (37-23) lead two minutes into the second half. The Titans then went on a 6-0 run to bring it back with in eight (37-29), but UTA answered with a 13-1 run to expand its lead to 20 (50-30) with 9:48 left on the clock. With 2:42 left in the game Nelson hit a free throw to give the Mavs their largest lead of the season, 60-37.

UTA shot 38.2 percent from the floor for the game and had a 41-31 rebound advantage over the Titans. Toni Thomas was the only Titan to score in double digits with 14 points.

The Mavericks will return to action as they play host to Pepperdine on Fri. (12/1). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Texas Hall.
