ARLINGTON, Texas - Senior forward Ashley Bobb had 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead UT Arlington to a 72-60 victory over the semi-pro Houston Jaguars in an exhibition game Monday night.

Terra Wallace added 14 points and Maryann Abanobi had 13 for UT Arlington, which will open the season Saturday against Northern Arizona. KeKe Harris led the Jaguars with 15 points.

"I was frustrated with our defensive effort," said head coach Donna Capps. "This was a real realty check for us, but we have time to work on it before Saturday."

The Mavs led by as many as nine in the first half, but the pesky Jaguars stayed close throughout and trailed by only four at halftime, 31-27. In the second half, UT Arlington held the Jaguars to 26 percent (6-23) from the field.

Throughout the first six minutes of the second half UTA held the Jaguars to two points. The Mavs went on to extend their lead to 19, on a Wallace lay-up, with 7:37 left in the game. Down the stretch UTA did not allow the Jaguars to get any closer than 12.

UT Arlington opens up the regular season on Saturday they play host to Northern Arizona. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m. at Texas Hall.
