LU (8-14, 3-9) got the first points of the game on a pair of free throws from Samuel before the Mavs responded with the next eight points on three-pointers from Maryann Abanobi and Thompson, followed by a layup inside from Thompson.
UTA (16-7, 10-2) would continue its barrage from outside as the team would finish 10-for-19 from beyond the arc in the first half. Wallace was nearly perfect in the first half as she was 4-for-5 from long range, while freshman Erin Dixon was 2-for-2 from distance.
