ARLINGTON, Texas - For the third time this season, Texas-Arlington junior guard Terra Wallace was honored by the Southland Conference as she was named the Aeropostale/Southland Conference Co-Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 20, the league office announced Monday. Wallace shares the honor with Texas State's Tamara Thompson after both players established new career-high's against Texas-San Antonio.
Wallace (Round Rock, Texas) was honored after averaging 28.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and four assists a game in a double-time loss at Texas-San Antonio and victory at Lamar. Wallace went 18-for-36 (.500) from the field, including 7-for-14 (.500) from beyond the arc, while going 14-for-15 (.933) from the free throw line.
In the contest against UTSA, Wallace scored 25 of her career-best 34 points after intermission. She finished the game by going 11-for-25 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. She also added seven rebounds and five assists while playing 49 minutes.
Against LU, Wallace was hitting from the outside as she hit 5-of-6 from long range and finished with a game-high 23 points. Overall, she went 7-for-11 (.636) from the field and 4-for-5 from the foul line. She also added six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
On the season, Wallace is averaging 18.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists two steals and 1.2 blocks a game. She is leading the conference in scoring and assists and is trying to become the first player to ever lead the conference in both categories in the same season.
The Mavs return to action Feb. 23 as they host Nicholls State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Texas Hall.
