FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - UT-Arlington junior sprinter Jared Connaughton clocked a time of 6.78 in the men's 60-meter dash but failed to advance to Saturday's finals at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track Championships at the Randal Tyson Center on Friday.

Connaughton, who won the Southland Conference 60-meter championship Feb. 18, started slow out of the blocks and finished seventh in heat one.

Baylor freshman Jared Norman had the top qualifying time of 6.56.

UT-Arlington will begin the outdoor season following spring break. UTA will host the frist Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational April 1 at Maverick Stadium.
