ARLINGTON, Texas - UT-Arlington junior catcher/designated hitter Adam Moore was named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for the week of March 6, the league office announced Monday. This is the second honor for Moore this season after earning the same honor for the week of 13.
Moore (Mineola, Texas) was honored after going 10-for-22 with four doubles, three home runs, six RBIs and eight runs scored in being named to the all-Tournament team at the First Hawai'i Title Rainbow Tournament in Honolulu, Hawai'i. He also drew one walk and was hit by two pitches to go along with his 1.045 slugging % and .520 on-base %.
In the tournament opener against #11 Arkansas, Moore belted two of the farthest home runs hit out of Les Murakami Stadium in recent memory. He would add his third long ball of the week with another towering shot against the Razorbacks just two days later. He had a career-best four hits , including a double, in a 15-9 victory over #24 Hawai'i. In the five game tournament, Moore collected at leas one hit in all five games and has hit safely in 14 of the 15 games this season.
The Mavs return to action on March 7 when they play host to #19 Baylor. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Clay Gould Ballpark.
