COLLEGE STATION, Texas - UT Arlington junior Jody Broccoli-Hickey recorded his second-top 20 finish of the season with a time of 26:44 for 20th place at the Texas A&M Invitational at the Penberth Intramural Complex here Saturday morning.
Hickey (The Woodlands Texas) led the Mavericks to a seventh place finish in the 13-team field. Host Texas A&M won the event with 25 points. Sam Houston State (51), TCU (92), Texas-San Antonio (142) and Texas State (156) finished in the top five. The Stephen F. Austin "B" team (178) was sixth followed by UT Arlington's 196 points. Texas-Pan American (200), Prairie View A&M (227), Trinity (258), Texas A&M International (268), Monterrey Tech (276) and Palo Alto College (367) completed the field.
Sophomore Idilio Campos (Mission, Texas) was 22nd with a 26:54 over the 8,000-meter course. Sophomore Ivan Pinal (Fort Worth, Texas) finished third among the Mavericks with a 27:57 for 46th. Freshman Zack Davis (Killeen, Texas) clocked a 30:24 for 79th, freshman Dustin Poe ( Fort Bend, Texas) timed a 33:19 and junior transfer Jeff Raines (Mansfield, Texas) had a time of 34:20.
The Mavericks will take next weekend off before competing at the OSU Cowboys Jamboree in Stillwater on September 30. The Southland Conference Championships are Oct. 27 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
