Candice Champion came off the bench to hit a layup inside with 11:52 left in the first half that gave the Mavs a 15-14 lead. UTA would maintain its lead throughout the half and push it to as many as 11 points on a Wallace three-pointer and a Champion layup with 3:22 showing on the first-half clock. Jenesis Shaw would hit a jumper in the final half minute to send the teams to recess with the Mavs ahead 43-35.
The Islanders (9-9, 4-2 SLC) used a mini 5-0 run early in the second half to pull within three points before both teams managed only a Tojjinay Thompson layup over the next 4:44.
Wallace would again take over the game as she converted a three-point play before dishing the ball off for a Jamie Buxkemper jumper to push the advantage back to eight. Wallace would help balloon the lead to 15 points with back-to-back three pointers and another jumper.
Wallace would tie her career-high with a pair of free throws and a pair of technical free throws before establishing a new career-mark with a jumper to close out the scoring for both teams with 3:15 left on the clock.
Champion was the only other player in double figures with 10 points, all coming in the first half. Maryann Abanobi chipped in with nine and Ashley Bobb eight.
