CHOUDRANT, La. - The UT Arlington men's golf team shot six-over-par 294 to trail opening-round leader Mississippi at the 2007 Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Intercollegiate Monday.

Rains that blanketed the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex drifted to western Arkansas and halted the second round with most groups finished with five holes. The completion of the second round and the play of the third round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

UT Arlington, tied for seventh with SLC member Sam Houston State, played under-par golf through most of the first round, but stumbled down the stretch to lose ground and trail Ole Miss. Jacksonville State (284), LSU (290), Middle Tennessee State (291), Louisiana-Lafayette (292), Southern Miss (293), UTA and Sam Houston State (294), Nevada (295) and Arkansas State (296) round out the top 10.

The rest of the field has College of Charleston (297) in 11th and Nebraska, New Orleans and Louisiana Tech (all 298) tied for 12th. North Texas (304), Arkansas-Little Rock (305), Louisiana-Monroe (307), and Rice (310) complete the 18-team field.

Mississippi's David Marion leads the tournament with a four-under 68. Teammate Kyle Ellis and LSU's Jarrod Barsamian shot 69s.

UT Arlington was led by Bryce Easton with a one-under par 71. The round was his fourth round under par in nine tournament rounds played this fall.

Senior Zack Reeves had a 35 on the front nine and finished at one-over 73. Sophomores Michael van de Venter and Bobby Massa posted rounds of 75 in the morning.

Kevin Varrichio scored an 80 in his first tournament of the fall.

Zack Fischer, playing as a medalist, fired a two-over 74.
