ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's basketball coach Samantha Morrow has announced the signing of Mansfield Timberview point guard Nikki Terral to a national letter-of-intent.
Terral signs with UTA while enjoying another stellar season at Timberview. The 5-foot-7 senior point guard has helped the Wolves to a 12-0 record and No. 2 ranking by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Terral is averaging 8 points, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and is shooting 82 percent from the free-throw line.
She was recently named to the Capital City Showdown All-Tournament First Team in Austin after helping Timberview capture the tournament championship.
"Nikki is a true point guard who can do a little of everything on the floor, and she makes everybody around her better," Morrow said. "She comes from a winning program and has played at a high level for a long time now, and I'm confident she will make the transition to college basketball very quickly and be able to help our team. She has the `it' factor.
Terral's career on the Timberview varsity began her freshman year when she was a first-team All-District selection and 2005 Freshman of the Year. She backed up the early accolades by earning First-Team All-District 4-5A honors each of the past two seasons.
Now a four-year starter, she also led the Wolves to a 2007 District 4-5A championship and berth in the Class 5A Region I semifinals.
"Nikki is a winner, and those are the players you want," Morrow said. "I've known her since she was in the seventh grade, and I'm very excited that she's coming here."
