NACOGDOCHES, Texas - UT Arlington sophomore Stacey Bennett matched her personal-best height of 5-08.75 to take third place and earn all-conference honors to highlight day two for the Mavericks at the 2007 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship here Saturday.
The third and final day of the champion begins Sunday at 1 p.m.
UT Arlington is tied for ninth place in the team standings with 13 points. Stephen F. Austin leads the meet with 70.50 points while UT-San Antonio is second at 49.50 points.
UT Arlington sprinter Kourtnee Jones and Jasmine Walls qualified for Sunday's finals in both the 100 and 200-meter races. Walls turned in the second fastest time in the 200 meters with a 23.97 and Jones won the second heat with a 24.19.
Freshmen Chamberlain Garber and Antonia Hopkins clocked personal-best times to advance to the finals. Hopkins clocked the fourth fastest outdoor time in school history with a 55.72 and Garber timed a 56.25 to advance to Sunday's finals.
Senior Ivorita Taylor had the second fastest qualifying time in the 800 meters. Carranda Mose also advanced to the 800-meter finals with a 2:18.42.
Sunday's schedule of events include and the finals in the triple jump, pole vault and discus and all running finals.
