ARLINGTON, Tx. - The UTA golf team returns to tournament play for the first time in three weeks at the UMB Bank-Mizzou Tiger Intercollegiate Classic on April 13 and 14 in Columbia, Mo.
The Mavericks last tournament at Wichita State was canceled due to winter weather and the team has not played a tournament since March 22-24 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.
Besides UTA, the field consists of Missouri, Kansas State, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, SMU, Iowa State, Wyoming, New Orleans, Liberty, UT-San Antonio, Xavier, Eastern Illinois and IUPUI. The tournament will be played at The Club at Old Hawthorne which plays 7,221 yards and to a par of 72. The tournament will consist of 54 holes, with 36 holes played on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Mavericks enter the tournament ranked 50th in the nation in the latest golfstat.com rankings and 51st in the last golfweek.com rankings.
Head coach Jay Rees will send out his usual five players for the tournament which include Bobby Massa, Zack Fischer, Michael Van deVenter, Bryce Easton and Kevin Carrigan.
Massa is currently ranked 31st in the nation by golfstat.com and comes into the tournament with a team leading stroke average of 71.54.
