The UT Arlington women's basketball squad will look to rebound Sunday evening when they go head-to-head against University of Houston at 5 p.m. at the Hofheinz Pavillion.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Head Coach Todd Buchanan makes his coaching debut at the University of Houston Sunday, looking for his first win as a Cougar and 100th of his career.

Senior Courtney Taylor was tabbed to repeat as the Conference USA Player of the Year. Taylor needs only six points to climb into 10th place all-time at Houston.

Preseason Conference USA pick Brittney Scott looks to make her 62nd-consecutive start on Sunday. The senior from Orange, Texas, started all 61 games the past two seasons.

Scott The Cougars return a rare amount of experience this season with all five starters back and nine of last year's 10 letterwinners, who recorded 97.4 percent of the total offense. The roster features six seniors and nine total upperclassmen, while five newcomers also join the mix. The six seniors combine for 479 games played and 232 starts.

Houston competed in one exhibition contest this preseason, routing Huston-Tillotson by a score of 134-65 Tueday night.

SERIES VS HOUSTON
The Cougars hold an 8-0 all-time series lead over the Mavericks... the last meeting against Houston was at Texas Hall on Nov. 17 where UT Arlington lost a close 78-74 decision... Tamara Simmons led the Mavs offense, scoring 19 points on 8-of-19 shooting from the field while Shalyn Martin recorded 13 points and had four blocks... as a team, UTA finished the game shooting 41.4 percent from the field.

LAST TIME OUT
Shalyn Martin became the 18th player in UT Arlington history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, but Oral Roberts ruined the Mavs' season opener with a 110-58 win at the Mabee Center

UTA kept the game close early, trailing just 24-20 midway in the first half, but the team's inexperience showed in the form of 35 turnovers.

While the Mavericks struggled with turnovers, the Golden Eagles (1-0) hit 56 percent of their 3-point attempts. Kevi Luper led the team with 28 points and five steals.

Oral Roberts finished the first half on a 33-7 run.

Martin led the team with 14 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Tamara Simmons tallied 13 points for the Mavs. Jasmine Smith finished with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting, but was limited after picking up two fouls in the first 1:04.

Following the meeting over Houston, UT Arlington continues their four-game road trip with a stop in Kansas City, MO for a match-up over UMKC on Nov. 20 at 4 p.m.
