Wright Signs Three-Year Contract Extension with Lady Mavs

ARLINGTON, Texas – After leading UT Arlington to their first ever appearance in Western Athletic Conference tournament championship game in her fifth season at the helm of the program, Lady Mavericks head coach Shereka Wright has signed a contract extension with UTA through the 2030 season.

UTA Athletic Director Jon Fagg announced the three-year extension for Wright on Friday afternoon.

"I am truly blessed and grateful to continue serving as head coach of the UT Arlington Lady Mavs," said Wright. "I appreciate the confidence and support that President Dr. Jennifer Cowley and Director of Athletics Jon Fagg have shown by extending my time here in Arlington. I look forward to another season with our team, staff, and fans."

Wright is coming off a season where she led the Lady Mavs to their best ever regular season and tournament finish in UTA's WAC tenure, entering the tourney as the third overall seed before falling in the WAC Championship game to the top-seeded Grand Canyon Lopes in what is sure to be a classic WAC game.

The Lady Mavs competed in the WNIT for the first time since 2019 and fifth time in program history. UTA made history by picking up their second ever postseason victory when they defeated Incarnate Word before eventually falling to North Texas.

Wright led the Lady Mavs to their best ever home finish inside the College Park Center, posting a 12-1 record which is a .923 winning percentage, the best ever inside the CPC.

Wright moved into fifth all-time on the coaches win list after finishing with 82 wins on the season while her .569 winning percentage is the third best mark in program history.

Brittingham thrived under Coach Wright, as she wrapped up her UTA career with three triple doubles, the most by one player in program history.

"Thank you to UTA for all you have done for me and my family," said Wright. "Go Mavs and buck em!"
