ARLINGTON, Texas - Both UT Arlington athletes that were invited to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational have completed all of their scheduled events.
Junior Cordero Gray was, for lack of a better word, impressive. Gray ran a 6.75 in the 60 meter prelims, which was fast enough to qualify for the finals.
He ended up finishing third overall in the finals with a time of 6.73. That time was faster than his fastest time of 6.75 from last season.
Gray also ran in the 200 meter dash and placed ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 21.58. In the finals, Gray finished fourth overall with a time of 21.32.
Senior Jasmine Walls was the other UTA runner invited to the meet. Walls ran her fastest time of the year in the 60 meter dash, 7.68, but did not qualify for the finals in that event.
Walls also took part in the 200 meter dash and finished with a time of 24.96. She did not qualify for the finals in this event.
Assistant head coach Jordan Durham was the only coach to travel with Gray and Walls. Durham saw progress from both athletes at the event.
"He(Gray) did really well this weekend," said assistant coach Durham. "Jasmine Walls did really well in the 60 meter dash too."
