Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington head men's basketball coach Scott Cross announced today the program has signed forwards Bo Ingram (Kinston, NC/South Plains College/Kinston HS) and Brandon Edwards (Fort Worth, Tex./South Hills HS) to a national letters of intent to begin playing for the Mavericks in the fall of 2010.
"We are extremely excited about adding these two outstanding players to our program," Cross said. "Both of these players bring a great deal of versatility to our program and have the ability to contribute immediately."
Ingram, a 6-5, 220-pound forward averaged a team-high 12.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for South Plains College in 2009-10. He was a first team All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference selection.
Ingram was the 2008 co-North Carolina High School Player of the Year. He joins other players such as Tracy McGrady, Chris Paul and John Wall. He led his team to the North Carolina state title in 2008 and was named the Most Valuable Player of the state tournament.
Edwards averaged 22.5 points, 15.7 rebounds and 7.0 blocks per game last season at South Hills High School in Fort Worth. He also made 78.1 percent of his free throws for the season and finished with 209 blocks in his senior year.
Following the season he was named District 7-4A Defensive Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning News.
These two players join four others who signed with the Mavericks in the fall - guards Darius Richardson (who was named the TABC's Class 5A Player of the Year), Shaquille White and Brandon Gay and center Stuart Lagerson.
