Final Stats
LARAMIE, Wyo. - Bianca Sauls had eight kills and nine digs, but UT Arlington could not snap out of its funk Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to Boise State at UniWyo Sports Complex.
Searching for the right chemistry, UTA coach Diane Seymour again made a lineup change, inserting Alicia Shaffer into the starting lineup.
However, Boise State's attack proved too much. The Broncos (8-2) finished with a .347 attack percentage and nine service aces, winning the match 25-16, 25-12, 25-15.
"Our play is very, very frustrating," Seymour said. "We just can't seem to get everybody playing well at the same time. The receiving was abysmal for us. It was not characteristic for us and it sets the tempo for how your offense will be as well."
Seymour also gave Amanda Aguilera her second start of the season. The junior finished the match with seven kills and five digs.
Regardless of who is in the lineup at outside hitter for the Mavericks this weekend, Seymour said the position must produce better with fewer errors.
"Our outside-hitter situation on the left side has just been awful this weekend," Seymour said. "It's going to be tough to win matches if we can't find some people to hit outside for us."
Raegan Daniel finished with 16 assists and eight digs for the Mavs (3-7).
Alisha Young led the Broncos with 13 kills and Amanda Remy finished with 15 digs. Breann Nesselhuf contributed with 33 assists.
The loss marked the Mavericks' third in the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic and their fourth consecutive. They hope to end their skid later tonight when they play Portland in the final game of the tournament.
"We talked in the locker room about not taking steps backwards at this point," Seymour said. "The thing we look at is Portland comes into this evening looking for its first win of the weekend as well and we'll see who's tougher."
