UT Arlington women's basketball team suffered a tough loss to UT Pan American Wednesday night in an overtime defeat, 72-65.

"I thought we played pretty good defense against Pan Am, but didn't rebound well," head coach Samantha Morrow said about Wednesday's loss.

Sophomore Rosalyn Thorpe scored a season high 18 points in just her third game as a UTA Mavericks.

"People haven't known about her, now everybody knows about her," Morrow said. "She is a force to be reckoned with."

The Mavericks hope to bounce back with a victory against Houston Baptist Saturday, December 31 at Texas Hall in Arlington at 1 p.m.

The Huskies are coming off their 13th loss of the season after an 86-61 defeat by the Texas State Bobcats in the Strahan Coliseum.

This is UTA's as well as Coach Morrow's third matchup against the Houston Baptist Huskies.

The women have defeated the Huskies in their previous two contests, the most recent being a 77-65 victory for the Mavericks in Houston in 2009.

"They'll run a zone offense to try to slow us down, but we just need to be patient and run through our offense and don't panic," Morrow said.
