Lubbock, Texas - The UT Arlington women's basketball team fell to Texas Tech, 88-48 Wednesday evening at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The setback dropped the Mavericks to 1-6 on the season.
"Our effort was a lot better the second half than in the first half," Marrow said. "I'll never be satisfied with effort."
Texas Tech's No. 15 Casey Morris started off with the Red Raider's first eight points and the first three field-goals of the game.
Takiyah Langford gave the Mavericks their first field goal of the game with 11:56 to go in the first half and a score of 20-3.
UT Arlington went to the locker room at the half trailing the Texas Tech Red Raiders by 31 with a score of 46-15.
In the opening minutes of the second half, the Mavericks grabbed their first back-to-back field goals of the game thanks to senior Bianca Sauls and sophomore Hailee Rhymes.
The Mavericks went on their biggest run of the game scoring eight straight points, closing the gap to 30 with Tech leading 57-27.
Sophomore Malaika Green led the team with nine points and grabbed two rebounds in 19 minutes.
"It was good to see (Malaika) get out there and play like that, she played hard," Marrow said.
The Red Raiders' Casey Morris finished the game with a season high 24 points.
The Mavericks head to Long Beach, Calif. December 18 to take on the Wichita State Shockers at 5 p.m. at the Long Beach Classic.
Sunday's game against the Shockers will be the 3rd matchup between the two schools... the series is tied 1-1... the last time the two schools faced off was in Wichita, Kan. where the Shockers defeat the Mavericks 63-75 in 1993... UT Arlington's victory was in 1993 where the Mavs came away with a 68-61 victory in Arlington, Texas.
