UT Arlington improved a spot in the standings Saturday to place ninth at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The Mavericks finished with a three-round total of 46-over-par at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
UTA began the final round 10th. The Mavericks shot a plus-21 305 for a total score of 898.
"We did not reach our goals this week," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "We made too many big numbers and had too many three-putts. We have a lot of work to do before Ole Miss. We have to prove we can be more consistent."
Paul McConnell tied for 20th with a three-round total of 219 (plus-6). Cameron Hollek (T36, 224), Hunter Brown (T48, 228) Pierre Carlsson (T53, 230) and Jamey Taylor (T55, 231) completed UTA's team total.
Playing as an individual, Cash Wilkerson is tied for 62nd with a 234.
Texas won its home event with a 9-under-par 843. New Mexico, TCU, Texas A&M and North Texas rounded out the top five. Texas golfers Dylan Frittelli, Jordan Spieth and Julio Vegas tied for first on the player leader board.
The Mavericks will next compete in the Bancorp South Intercollegiate (April 2-3) in Madison, Miss.
