ARLINGTON, Texas - Women's basketball is just one month away from the opening of the 2013-14 season. Though it's coming fast, there is still plenty of time to keep improving.
"We still have a long way to go, but I'm really pleased with where we are," UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich said. "I like the energy that we're bringing and how much we've put in already. I like what we're doing and I like their attitudes."
The Mavericks begin their first season in the Sun Belt Conference after spending one season in the Western Athletic Conference.
The women open the season at Houston Baptist Nov. 8 and Oklahoma State Nov. 10 before opening the home schedule Nov. 14 against Incarnate Word at College Park Center.
"We're definitely making progress," senior guard Laila Suleiman sad. "I think we're really working together and our chemistry is pretty good even this early. We have a way to go, but it's looking good."
Suleiman is one of three seniors and seven returners. She led the team in scoring during their 2012-13 season, averaging 9.4 points per game.
Season tickets are on sale now. Premium seats are also on sale to the general public and available for renewal for existing premium ticket holders. Ticket information is available at utatickets.com.
