ARLINGTON, Texas- The UT Arlington women's basketball team will host University of New Orleans Wednesday, Feb. 20 at noon at College Park Center for a nonconference matchup.
The Mavericks are 5-19 overall and 3-11 in the Western Athletic Conference. The team is 1-1 since Karen Blair has been named interim head coach.
The match-up will mark the second ever time for the programs to face off against one another. UTA defeated UNO 76-67 in 1988 in the only other meeting. New Orleans is Division I Independent and will join the Southland Conference in the 2013-14 season.
The Privateers are 2-19 on the season and have one two of their last three after losing 16-straight contests.
Laila Suleiman leads the team averaging 9.2 points per game throughout the season and 10.6 in conference play. Desherra Nwanguma is also averaging 10.6 points per WAC contest and 7.9 throughout the season while Aron Garcia is leading the team with 7.7 rebounds per game, which ranks her seventh in rebounds in the conference.
