SAN DIEGO, Calif.-The UT Arlington men's golf team is in fifth place after the first day of the San Diego Intercollegiate.
"We played a great first round," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "The winds picked up and Paul and Riley just could not get anything going in the afternoon round.
"Overall it was a positivate day and we are trying to have a great final round and move up."
The team is 11-over par and senior Cameron Hollek is leading the Mavericks tied for ninth after two rounds of play.
Paul McConnell is in 12th place and Hunter Brown follows tied for 18th. Riley Fleming and Brad Mason are tied for 64th and 69th, respectively.
San Diego Stats leads all teams with a score of two-under par. All teams are back on the links Tuesday at 8 a.m. PT time.
