ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team defeated Utah State 5-2 at the UTA Tennis Center.

Liucija Smaizyte, Verena Scott, Elizabeth Thoms, and Brooke Dennis each won their singles match to help propel the Mavericks to their first Western Athletic Conference win of the season.

Katarina Dikosavljevic and Christine Foote as well as Giada D'ortona and Scott won their doubles matches against the Aggies to leave the final doubles match of the day unfinished as UTA clenched the 5-2 win.

"Overall I am pleased with the way we competed today," UTA tennis coach Diego Benitez said. "It was an important win for us and I hope we build upon it."

The Mavericks will face Texas State in San Marcos, Texas at 2 p.m. March 28 to continue WAC play.
